The Nissan Skyline is a series of salon cars, sports cars and compact executive cars originally produced by the Prince Motor Company commencing in 1957, and later by Nissan after the two companies joined in 1967. After the merger, the Skyline and its larger relative, the Nissan Gloria, were sold in Japan at dealerships called Nissan Prince Shop.
Throughout the following years the Nissan Skyline was changed in model appearance, engine size and performance and was the ‘Car to Own’ in Japan. Nissan even produces a lovely convertible edition, as shown.

The first GT-R Nissan Skyline was sold in February 1969, it was called the PGC-10 and later the KPGC-10 for the coupé version.It was called theHakosuka by fans. Hako means Box and suka is short for Skyline in Japanese. It used the 2.0 L DOHC engine and produced 160 hp and was similar to the engine used in the Prince R380 racing car. The GT-R began as a salon, but a 2-door coupé version was introduced in March 1971. The cars were stripped of all unnecessary equipment so as to be as light as possible for racing performance.

Nissan Skyline GT-R
The Nissan Skyline GT-R is a performance sports car based on the Nissan Skyline range.
The first cars named Nissan Skyline GT-R were manufactured between years 1969 and 1972 and enjoyed success in the Japanese touring car racing class. The Nissan Skyline GT-R name was revived in 1989 as the R32 Skyline GT-R. This model Skyline GT-R proceeded to win the Japanese Group A series championship 4 years in a row. The Nissan Skyline R32 series are now over 25 years old and are a very appreciating collectable performance car.
The Skyline GT-R now became the flagship of Nissan performance sportcars, with many advanced technologies including the 4-wheel steering.Today, the car is popular for import drag racing, circuit track and for simple adrenaline rush amongst enthusiasts. The Skyline GT-R was never manufactured outside of Japan, and there were 3 sole export markets, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand/ The UK is in the fortunate position that is has been able to import all versions of the Nissan Skyline and offer it for sale. The main generation of Nissan Skyline GT versions that Algys Autos imports start with the R32 which came into Japan production in 1990. This R32 Skyline has fast become a very sought after car in the UK, Canada and lately the USA. The popularity has caused prics to increase in Japan and nowadays a R32 will cost you more than an R33 Skyline becuase the USA cannot import the R33.This new 2,569 cc 4 wheel drive version was put into production as the R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R. The R32 developed 276 bhp.
The special edition Skyline GT-R Nismo, was introduced in Feb 1990 and attracted a premium of ¥235,500 (£1,700) over the standard GT R car. It existed for Group A racing, wherethe rules required a production run of a minimum of 500 units, under the Evo special regs, but an additional 60 were produced and held 
by Nissan to turn into race cars, giving a total production of 560 units. The GT-R Nismo uses the same engine of the ‘standard’ GT-R but replaces the turbos with larger models. The GT-R Nismo was only available in colour Gun Grey Metallic. The Nismo Nissan Skyline is noticable by the circular ‘Nism’ logo on the right-rear of the boot lid. It is obviously rare to see a Nissan Skyline GT type R Nismo for sale and it will attract a far greater retail price tag.
The Nissan Skyline R33 was developed as the successor to the R32. The engine in the R33 was almost identical to the one fitted in the R32. It used the same turbos and the same spec for the manual gearbox. The engine addressed the R32 weak oil pump collar, which would often fail at higher power application, by using a wider collar. The Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R launched in January 1995 and is often sought after for importation into the UK.
The 5th Generation Nissan Skyline released in 1999 until 2002 was the R34 Skyline GT-R, GT-R V·Spec and GT-R V·Spec N1 models. The Skyline R34 GT-R was made a little shorter in response to customer comments who thought the R33 was too ‘bulky’.
The Skyline R34, like the R32 and R33, Nissan released a R34 V·Spec N1 model. The R34 V·Spec N1 was equipped similar to the R32 and R33 N1 a homologation special edition of 500+ units. for lightness It was sold without AC, stereo equipment, rear screen wiper, or any boot lining, but ABS remained. The new R34 N1 was also given the new R34 N1 engine. Only 38 R34 V·Spec N1 models were produced from the factory, 12 Nismo used for Super Taikyu racing. The remainder were sold to various customers, mostly racing teams and tuning garages.
The V·Spec version was also imported into the UK with a number of modifications carried out on cars. In additional to the cars imported into the UK, 10 went to Hong Kong and Singapore, and 5 to New Zealand.
